Studio Update 12/12/11 - Collage

Three walls now covered:

Centre Wall
Integration of colour
Use of board module and yellow picked up from cardboard chip boxes
Triangular yellow wedges, diagonally across boards setting up tension with strictly horizontal /vertical format   (Ref Lothar's Colour Installations in his Talk of 5/12/11)
Decide on shift in intensity of colour as form gains height. Act almost as shafts of light from the high window in the space, but with density inverted from the 'natural order'.

RHS Wall
Turn the blank canvasses already integrated into 'mini collage' using donated kid's flannel coat in fortuitous pink! Like the conceit of a collage within a collage!

 LHS Wall
Picks up on Magenta/ pink the theme of  RHS Wall.
Use of circle / cut outs with transition to 'squares/ rectangles on central wall.

 Discussion with VB
Range of whole work and approach - discussion of options for taking work forward. Decide to list possible options and then prioritise for action:
  1. emphasize modular backround on LHS and RHS walls ( i.e. parallel yellow shafts)
  2. keep rhythmn of vertical battens as a constant ( unifier) then consdier various rearrangement of collage material.
  3. work with only material already on walls ( possible exception of vertical battens).
  4. paint/ introduce images on small, blank canvasses.
  5. turn around cardboard to lose images.
  6. paint around outline of hanging items and then remove from piece.
  7. extend battens - downwards mainly to increase  penetration into room space
  8. play on high level window e.g. slats/ bars to create projected pattern of light.
  9. hang items  from ceiling ( practically difficult but not impossible)
  10. introduce item into central space
Attempted item 10 using cardboard packing cases - reassembled with central circular motif cut out. This allows view through the boxes which could then be 'focused' on particular elements of the collage.
Boxes provide direct reference to elements on LHS wall
